Series consist of materials created for the promotion of Douglas College programs, services, events, and achievements. These materials were created by various successive internal offices tasked specifically with shaping the College's image, producing advertisements, coordinating with faculties and departments, drafting speeches, and documenting events. The series includes brochures, flyers, posters, publications, correspondence, news releases, memoranda, meeting agendas and minutes, course information, receipts and invoices, and much more.

File consists of news releases and related materials produced by the Public Information Office. Many of these news releases contain information about courses and programs offered at Douglas College.

Douglas College Flyers - 1970s-1990s

File consists of flyers and other promotional materials produced by the Public Information Office. These include, but are not limited to: a program from the opening of the Newton Centre campus (November 1979), materials related to the official opening of the New Westminster campus (March 1983), admissions newsletters, a fall 1986 graduation program, Women's Centre programming (March 1984), and brochures from the Music Department's showcases (1983). This file also includes brochures for programs during the 1971-72 school year and the fall 1982 semester. The 1971-72 brochures are related to counselling services, physical education, fashion design, construction management, continuing education, and accounting. The 1982 brochures are related to criminology, modern languages, anthropology, sociology, philosophy, and the humanities.

Miscellaneous Minutes and Reports - 1971-1974

File consists of early minutes and reports pertaining to publicity and marketing at the College. This includes meeting minutes from the Logo Committee, the Communication and Administrative Structure Committee, and a workshop on Promotional Publicity and Public Information. There is also report titled "Proposal to Promotion and Publicity Committee" (1974).

Biographies - 1972-1979

File consists of materials used by the Public Information Office to help identify and describe members of the College administration and the College Council. These include biographical notes (Don Porter, John Sutherland, and Anthony Wilkinson), contact information for members of the College Council (1972-1975), a photograph of Reg Pridham and another unidentified photo, and a press release from the Vancouver Public Library announcing the appointment of George Wootton as Director.

File consists of flyers and other promotional materials produced by the Public Information Office. These include, but are not limited to, materials related to: a College open house (March 1983), a public lecture series on environment issues in the Lower Mainland (1989), a Lee Maracle speaking event, a guide to PIO services, Arts and Entertainment events (Spring 1988), a faculty "yellow pages" (October 1990), a brochure related to College access for persons with disabilities, and the opening of the Thomas Haney Centre (October 1992).

These include brochures from graduation ceremonies (1976, 1982, 1983, and 1984), invitations to graduation ceremonies (1978-1981 and 1983), a program guide for the Douglas College Foundation's spring 1994 awards ceremony, and a program from the official opening of the Amelia Douglas Gallery in 1992. Also included in this file are a number of flyers advertising various programs, including: Business Management, Fire Science, Chairside Dental Assisting, Accounting, Continuing Education in Dentistry, and more.

Some of the academic programs and courses that are the subject of these brochures include: philosophy, nursing, criminology, modern languages, business, building management, dental chairside assisting, and more. There are also brochures for 'Events for Women' programming, including the 1975 International Women's Year.
