Twentieth Anniversary

Series consists of materials pertaining to the College's twentieth anniversary celebration in 1989 and 1990. (The festivities began in September 1989.) These include event flyers, a bulletin called "Catch the Action," and a publication called "Twenty Years of Making a Difference." The Public Information Office was responsible for producing these items, while the festivities in general were overseen by the 20th Anniversary Steering Committee.

Douglas College Flyers - 1970s-1990s

File consists of flyers and other promotional materials produced by the Public Information Office. These include brochures from graduation ceremonies (1976, 1982, 1983, and 1984), invitations to graduation ceremonies (1978-1981 and 1983), a program guide for the Douglas College Foundation's spring 1994 awards ceremony, and a program from the official opening of the Amelia Douglas Gallery in 1992. Also included in this file are a number of flyers advertising various programs, including: Business Management, Fire Science, Chairside Dental Assisting, Accounting, Continuing Education in Dentistry, and more.

Some of these include: Assertiveness Training for Nurses, Cope With Your Cough, the Musical Instrument Repair Technician program, Parenting Skills for Adopting Parents, a non-fiction writing workshop, and more.

File consists of flyers and other promotional materials advertising programs, workshops, and events at the College during the spring 1978 semester. Some of these include: Introduction to Philosophy, Correctional Counselling, Institutional Correction Management, Safety in the 70's (an auto-safety course), the Fire Science Certificate Program, Navigation for Private Pilots, Demographic Data Collection, Pesticide Dispenser Certification, Counselling the Chemically-Dependent, Teaching Adults, Fostering the Teenager, and courses for nurses.

File consists of early minutes and reports pertaining to publicity and marketing at the College. This includes meeting minutes from the Logo Committee, the Communication and Administrative Structure Committee, and a workshop on Promotional Publicity and Public Information. There is also report titled "Proposal to Promotion and Publicity Committee" (1974).

Biographies - 1972-1979

File consists of materials used by the Public Information Office to help identify and describe members of the College administration and the College Council. These include biographical notes (Don Porter, John Sutherland, and Anthony Wilkinson), contact information for members of the College Council (1972-1975), a photograph of Reg Pridham and another unidentified photo, and a press release from the Vancouver Public Library announcing the appointment of George Wootton as Director.

File consists of promotional materials advertising programs, events, and services at Douglas College. Some of the academic programs and courses that are the subject of these brochures include: philosophy, nursing, criminology, modern languages, business, building management, dental chairside assisting, and more. There are also brochures for 'Events for Women' programming, including the 1975 International Women's Year.

File consists of copies of departmental profiles produced by the PIO, as well as an information handbook about services at the College more generally. The departments profiled are: the print shop, the counselling department, and personnel administration.
