A structural reorganization at Douglas College in 1997 created the Faculty of Language, Literature, and Performing Arts. This new faculty combined the previously existing Department of English and Communications and portions of the Department of Arts & Humanities to form the administrative body. Currently, the Faculty of Language, Literature, and Performing Arts is responsible for instruction on the following subjects: Communications, English Language Learning and Acquisition (ELLA), English, Creative Writing, Fine and Performing Arts, Music, Modern Languages, Stagecraft and Event Technology, Theatre, and Gender and Women's Studies. Lorna McCallum served as Dean from 1997-2004.
